Mugunghwa Cultural Centre

Back Home

Mugunghwa Cultural Centre was established by Korean benefactor Madam Stephanie Cho Deperrière de Villaret in February 2003. It aims to both preserving Korean cultural heritages and disseminating Korean culture to those with an interest in Korean culture in Malaysia. The name "Mugunghwa" is derived of the name of the national flower of Korea, rose of Sharon. The word, "Mugung", means "eternity" and "boundlessness" and "hwa" flower in Chinese characters. It is believed to represent the Korean history in which Korean people has been through so many perils and difficulties and finally overcome them.  The national flower of Malaysia happens to be the rose of Sharon, which makes locals feel more close to this centre and Korean culture.
